Daily Reflection with Fr. Tomas Del Valle-Reyes

Dear Friends: Praying is not easy. Our daily routine calls for our full attention. And the world around us puts little value on prayer; our lives are full of material things but at the same time are getting emptier in God’s value.

For this reason, I will post a daily reflection and as you visit this site may the Holy Spirit within you come to your aid and guide you gently to the God who loves you

I pray for the World

"JESUS of NAZARETH has triumphed over Death.
His Reign is Eternal. He is coming to conquer the world and the time.
"Mercy, my God on those who blaspheme You,
Forgive them, they know not what they do.
"Mercy, my God, for the scandal in the world,
Deliver them from the spirit of Satan.
"Mercy, my God, on those who run away from
You Give them an appreciation for the Holy Eucharist.
"Mercy, my God, on those who come to repent at the foot of the Glorious Cross. May they find Peace and Joy in God our Savior.
"Mercy, my God, so that Your Kingdom may come,
but save souls, there is still time; for the time is near, behold, I am coming. Amen
Come, Lord Jesus."

HEALED AND WHOLE

One day I dug a little hole
And put my hurt inside
I thought that I could just forget I'd put it there to hide.
But that little hurt began to grow
I covered it every day I couldn't leave it and go on
It seemed the price I had to pay.
My joy was gone, my heart was sad Pain was all I knew.
My wounded soul enveloped me Loving seemed too hard to do.
One day, while standing by my hole
I cried to God above And said, "If You are really there They say, You're a God of Love!
And just like that -- He was right there And just put His arms around me
He wiped my tears, His hurting child There was no safer place to be.
I told Him all about my hurt I opened up my heart He listened to each and
every word To every sordid part.
I dug down deep and got my hurt I brushed the dirt
away And placed it in the Master's hand
And healing came that day.
He took the blackness of my soul
And set my spirit FREE! Something beautiful began
to grow Where the hurt used to be.
And when I look at what has grown
Out of my tears and pain I remember every day
to give my hurts to Him And never bury them again.

God Loves you

New in the neighborhood, Meagan was eager to make friends,
so when six-year old Lauren invited her to go to Sunday
school with her family, little Megan immediately asked
permission from her mom.
Mom agreed, anything to grab a couple hours t
herself on a Sunday morning.
Megan and her Mom didn't know much about God.
Church had never been a part of their lives.
She was a single mother, working two jobs just to scrape by,
nothing beyond that held much importance.
Sunday morning came and Megan was excited to be
going somewhere with her new friend.
It didn’t really matter where.
She put on her prettiest dress and “dress-up” shoes, saved for special occasions.
At Sunday school, the children laughed and welcomed Megan.
The grandmotherly teacher hugged her and told her that she loved her and that God loved her, too.
The pastor told her that, also.
Several people said that very same thing to her and
one member tied a balloon to her wrist as they left the church.
On the balloon was printed that same thought…"Smile, God loves you.” Meagan was smiling.
She was happy and she had never felt so loved.
Dropping her off at home, Lauren and her family
waved and reminded her, “We love you and God loves you, too.”
She wanted to run in to tell Mom all about the Sunday school, the teacher and all the kids who were glad she was there.
She could hardly wait to tell her all about the singing and about Jesus and that God loves her and that He loves her Mother, too.
But first she wanted to be alone to think, for a few minutes,
about what it all meant. Kicking off her shoes,
which were pinching her feet by then, she sat on the curb
just to remember everything she had learned.
She remembered that the pastor told her that he loved her and so did God
and that all she had to do was to pray and ask Jesus to be her friend.
So, right there on the curb, quietly, that’s exactly what Meagan did…then she
went in to tell Mom all about it.

By Faith

I gaze up to the heavens and know
within its vastness
that this is your creation planned and effected within eternity
By faith
I pluck an ear of corn and know
within its symmetry lies the chemistry of life
the potential of creation within my hand
By faith
I listen for your voice and know the whisper that I hear
breathed a world into existence
yet listens to the prayer within my soul
By faith
I strive to do your will and know
the door that I approach may lead me to shadows
where my roll is to become your light
By faith
I cling to your word and know
the strength that I receive has it’s source within the love
that is at the centre of all things!
