Daily Reflection with Fr. Tomas Del Valle-Reyes

Dear Friends: Praying is not easy. Our daily routine calls for our full attention. And the world around us puts little value on prayer; our lives are full of material things but at the same time are getting emptier in God’s value.

For this reason, I will post a daily reflection and as you visit this site may the Holy Spirit within you come to your aid and guide you gently to the God who loves you

Prayer on Easter

Blest are you, Lord Jesus who came to us a little child one of us, flesh and blood to share in our humanityFor God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Blest are you, Lord Jesus who came to us as carpenterand yet in whose creative hands a world was fashionedFor God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Blest are you, Lord Jesus who came to us as fishermanand yet pointed to a harvest that was yet to come For God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Bless are you, Lord Jesus who came to us as teacher and opened eyes to truths that only the poor could understand For God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Blest are you, Lord Jesus who came to us as healer and opened hearts to the reality of wholeness
For God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Bless are you, Lord Jesus who came to us as prophet, priest and king and yet humbled himself to take our place upon the cross For God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Bless are you, Lord Jesus who came to us as servant revealed to us the extent of his Father's love for human kind For God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

Bless are you, Lord Jesus, who rose from the ignominy of a sinner's death to the triumph of a Savior’s resurrection For God so loved the world
ALL: That all might have eternal life

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son for the sake of mean you and other sinners too God so loved the world Bless are you Lord Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer
From the beginning you knew the final outcome watched as the jigsaw pieces were slotted into place saw the significance of every moment.
As your body was anointed with oil at the table of Simon the Leper the picture was becoming clearer not only in your eyes but to an unknown woman and one of your closest friends.
Judas sensed that this was his moment sacrificing trust that had been so freely given on the altar of selfish gain for his fifteen allotted minutes of fame and thirty pieces of silver The woman recognized the moment.
She gave generously unselfishly a costly gift, freely offered.
A fragrant sacrifice of perfume and love remembered forever in your heart.
And as Judas slipped away unnoticed your disciples saw none of this failed to see the significance of the moment.
Two sacrifices, one of trust and one of love.
But you noticed, Lord as you notice each day our sacrificial offering and betrayal.

The World is Mine

The World is Mine Today, upon a bus,
I saw a very beautiful woman.
And wished I were as beautiful.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two legs; the world is mine.
I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me, "I thank you, you've been so kind. It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two eyes; the world is mine.
Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child I knew.
He stood and watched the others play, but he did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said, "Why don't you join them dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
I forgot, he couldn't hear.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two ears; the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

Your light

Your light is the only light I need
as I travel through life's mystery
Your word the only voice I hear
that still small voice that leads me
to the place where I should be
Your presence is the only company I need
as I walk this narrow road
Your fellowship the warmth I crave
to help me on my way.

Surprise

Sometimes heaven catches up with us
and we don't even hear the angels sing.
A surprise can wait around the next corner
and we didn't even hear the bells ring.
Everyone gets lucky once in a while,
hits that old jackpot and wins.
Sooner or later the sun comes out
and peeks through the fog as it thins.
Sometimes we get so used to losing,
we think the pattern cannot be changed
but everyone has their time of glory
when the usual is rearranged.

Fate has a way of sneaking up on us,

catching us completely unaware,
sprinkling stardust in our eyes
and moonbeams in our hair.
When we look in the face of true love,
something happens to our heart.
Suddenly we're a new person
as the seeds of love get their start.

It doesn't mean we'll never find it
just because it eluded us in the past.
We must always remember,
sometimes God saves the best 'til last.

Abba Father

Abba Father, you know me well
Made in your image A part of your will
You’ve seen my thoughts
Know my words
You’ve laid your hand upon me, Lord
If I lay down in the dark of the night
Closing my eyes to shut out your light
In my darkness you’re there beside
A loving Father, a hand to guide

If I rise up on the wings of a bird
Soar to the heavens The depths of the earth
Mountain or sea High or low
There’s nowhere to hide, nowhere to go

There’s no hiding place
from the presence of your Spirit
No hiding place
From the searching of my heart
No hiding place
From the hand that’s there to guide me
For wherever I am be it near or far
Wherever I am is the place where you are
Jesus I am not a poet or musician
but
I have written
a song of praise
in my heart
And in the quietness
of this moment
I shall share it with you
in the certain knowledge
that any imperfections
will be made perfect
in the simple act
of opening my heart
and singing

WHAT HAPPENS IN HEAVEN

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around.
We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.
My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said,
"This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received."
I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.
Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.

The angel then said to me
,
"This is the Packaging and Delivery Section.
Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them. "
I noticed again how busy it was there.
There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing.
"This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel friend quietly admitted to me.
He seemed embarrassed "How is it that there is no work going on here?"
I asked.
"So sad," the angel sighed.
"After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments ."
"How does one acknowledge God's blessings?" I asked.
"Simple," the angel answered. Just say, "Thank you, Lord."

"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.
"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy ."

"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity."
"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness ... you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day ."
"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you are ahead of 700 million people in the world."
"If you can attend a church without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world! ."

"If your parents are still alive and still married ...you are very rare ."
"If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you're unique to all those in doubt and despair."
Ok, what now? How can I start?

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you want, pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

ATTN:

Acknowledge Dept.: "Thank you Lord, for giving me the ability to share this message and for giving me so many wonderful people to share it with."
If you have read this far, and are thankful for all that you have been blessed with, how can you not send it on???? I thank God for everything, especially all my family and friends!!

Blessings with love

The Will of God

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Grace of God cannot keep you,
Where the Arms of God cannot support you,
Where the Riches of God cannot supply your needs,
Where the Power of God cannot endow you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Spirit of God cannot work through you,
Where the Wisdom of God cannot teach you,
Where the Army of God cannot protect you,
Where the Hands of God cannot mold you.
The Will of God will never take you,
Where the Love of God cannot enfold you,
Where the Mercies of God cannot sustain you,
Where the Peace of God cannot calm your fears,
Where the Authority of God cannot overrule for you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,
Where the Miracles of God cannot be done for you,
Where the Omnipresence of God cannot find you.
