Daily Reflection with Fr. Tomas Del Valle-Reyes

Dear Friends: Praying is not easy. Our daily routine calls for our full attention. And the world around us puts little value on prayer; our lives are full of material things but at the same time are getting emptier in God’s value.

For this reason, I will post a daily reflection and as you visit this site may the Holy Spirit within you come to your aid and guide you gently to the God who loves you

Lord, I have Doubts

Gracious God, I feel so uncertain, so unsure.
I want to trust that you are real and present, that you are acting on my behalf, that you hear and will answer my prayers.
Yet, my confidence is spent, my faith flat.
You speak in my heart and tell me to seek your face, and I am seeking -- longing for the sureness of your presence, the touch of your breath, the warmth of your love.
In my doubt, O God, let your Spirit hover over me with the gentleness of angel’s wings, until I am opened to faith and once again recognize the pattern of your face.
I ask this for the sake of your love.
Amen.

My Neighbor, my family?

When I talk of neighbor I mean the family next door
whom I might or might not get on with.
When you talk of neighbor you extend our neighborhood
to the whole world to all kinds of people
the old, the young the good and the bad
those from different social or ethnic groups.
I see them on my TV screen and just know
that I could not get on with them
if they happened to move in next door.
But then, that is your challenge to us, isn't it?

To do as you did.
To extend the hand of love unconditionally

no strings or prejudice attached.
I can't do that Lord it is not in my nature.
But I am convinced that you can do it through me.

Lean On Me

Me As the road ahead seems rugged and the path is getting steep,
I feel that I can't make it so my heart begins to weep.
Then I turn to see who's coming to join me on my way.
I see it is my Lord and He slowly turns to say, "Lean on me..... when you have no strength to stand.
When you feel you're going under, hold tighter to my hand.
Lean on me...... when your heart begins to bleed.
When you know I'm all you have, then you'll find I'm all you need." Then when I felt that no one cared if I lived or died, and no one bothered asking why I'd go alone to cry.
When the burden got so heavy I could barely face the day, I felt His arms around me as I gently heard Him say, "Lean on me...... when you have no strength to stand. When you feel you're going under, hold tighter to my hand.
Lean on me...... when your heart begins to bleed.
When you come to know I'm all you have, then you'll find I'm all you need.
